Questions

1) Life in Vietnam would be perfect if everyone were totally equal. Do you agree or disagree?

I’ll be disagreeing with it, because if every one is equal, you can’t know that who is talented and who is not. For people have talent and high IQ, but they have to be like other people, for some people they are lazy, they just sitting around and do nothing.

2) You are designing a society in which everyone is equal. What are the laws?
Those laws are:
- Everyone must past university
- Every one will become more beautiful so everyone is equal
- Everyone must be kind to each other

3) What would you do to help people who were less capable mentally, physically, or socially to “catch up”?

I will send some one to help those people so they can “catch up” with society

4) What problems can you foresee that might come in a society with laws that force “equality for all”? How would you handle those problems?
It will be like everyone can’t see something new, they just see the thing that they have saw over and over. The people would become inactive. It just not fair that every one are equal. If we want all to be perfectly equal, we would have to drags the smart one down. That would be a waste of talent and after time, the world won’t get better, they only get worse because tall the talent inside of each citizen had wear out.

5) Do you believe that total equality is possible, or would human nature make sure that some people would eventually dominate others?

There is no way that the total of equality is possible. Everyone have their own talent, they have their own way to make things better.

6) In what situations have you felt similarly to any of the characters? What persons, places, or ideas from your own experience came to mind while you were reading this story? Try to list as least two examples.

In the story, people have to wear things that make they can’t be smarter or do the things that they wanted to do, like Harrison can be the smartest person ever but the handicap in his ear keep make him lose his thought by the crazy noise.
At the end of the story, Harrison got shot and die, but he just showed the audience that how could the dancer can really dance.

Economy essay
Have you ever thought what a traditional economy is? How can it help us? You should know some of this, because this economy is the hottest economy and the people always think of it. You are in this economy but you didn’t know. Traditional economy is all about working in an ethnic group, spend time with you family, trade products, but it is about working in the whole community. Traditional economy is good because it is all about trading products, family and ethnics, and agricultural ways of farming goods, every one is equal, everyone have work to do. It usually found in rural area long time ago; we can hardly found them in some village in the mountains. Traditional economies positively affect the citizens by allowing them to trade freely, improve family relationship, and use traditional farming method.

Traditional economy is the economy that work and get goods through trading others, because we don’t need to bring a lot of money around. We get what we got for the day, or we just trade with other what they got. For example if a person got 2 fish and another got vegetables, they would trade a fish/ gram of vegetables, that is how traditional economy worked. Thanks to traditional economy, we can spend more time with our family, and every one got their job. You can see it in the rural area of Vietnam, people in villages usually trade stumps with each others when they have what the other needs. We take the good that we caught from that day and bring back home for food, or trade with others. This is better than using money because we don’t have to work to get money to buy goods; we just catch them, grow them and trade them or bring them back for the family.

Traditional economy can make family relationship closer together, every one can gather around the house at night after a hard day. After a day that one has hunt animal, go fishing, and his wife is tries to grow vegetables, his kids go to school…but in the night, they just gather around the small fire in the middle of the house. They can talk about what they have done in that day, and their elders can teach the younger to study, or teach them the skill of farming. The traditional economy is very good for making the family relationship closer together. Like the story “The wise old woman”, by Yoshiko Uchida, the people in the village was try to stay with their family, but the leader of the village have the law that ban the old people in to the mountain until they died. But a farmer love his mom and he hide her in a tunnel and live there. But thanks to her, the villagers were saved by the farmer’s mother. So the leader abolished the law. It talks about the traditional economy people (that’s the people in the village) don’t agree with command economy people (the warlord that want to take over the village). For that they just stand up and fight against the command economy.

The traditional economy people are always working on farming, fishing… and a lot of other things but they don’t use machine to do those works, they use men strength to do their work. In a traditional economy places, you can’t find any factories, or any machines that use fuel to do works, you can see that in some of the villages in the countryside, they just use showel, landrail… All kind of tools that need man strength. Like the cotton making machines in the US in the early of XVI, or people use showel to dig for the ground more soft and good for plants.

Traditional economy is giving us the chance to work and we don’t have to have competition, and we can decide what we want to do, there no one here to control us. We can live well just by trading, traditional farming method, and our family relationship will be closer together. We can farm on our land, as many plant and vegetables as we want, and we use those plants for food, or trade with others. We can work, and make our family relationship closer together, we can have a good life when we living in a traditional economy.

The letter from a friend of nature

Hi Josh, remember me? It’s your best friend, Steve. Listen, I heard that your grandfather used bear bile for the past 4 years. I’m really sad about it, I think that bear bile is not very good for our health, it does cure some decease, but if we abused it, it doesn’t cured anything, but it make some stomached. That the bad things for us, but it cause a lot more things to bears. I saw some bears on the internet, and they got locked in cages, the cage is just small as a cube, that cube’s area is only 3m, and they just “wait” inside there until they got take their bile from their body. There are some of them are lucky enough to get in to a rescue center. Yes, they have to live in a cage in a rescue center, but they are safe from hunters, or the traps that wait to catch them and make them into medicine. I went to some of the rescue center, and it safe enough for them to live, but they can’t come back to the forest, because:
1. They have been in the cage for to long, they don’t have the skill to live. 2. If they come back, they will got caught by the hunters and be bear bile, or some other medicine. It’s a good thing that some place like the rescue center exist for the bears, or other animal that almost extinct. We can help those animals just by helping the government to build those rescue centers, like give the money to the government for them to build it. The main reason that I wrote this to you is I want to say: using bear bile is not always good. In my opinion, bear bile is only 5% good, why? If we abuse it, it will make us more sick than cure our sickness. And not just that, to create medicine that your grandfather is drink, we have to kill bears, lock them in to cages. The bears will be extinct just because we catch them to make medicine, do you want that to happen? And in the future, our children don’t have the opportunity to see these bears again. After read this letter, I want you to go online and go in you tube, type “bear bile” and you will see what happen to the bears. For example:

get in here and see what happen.

Aswer questions

#1:
How does advertising influence consumption?

If we saw some advertisement, it make us want to buy something, if there area lot of people that want to buy that, and that make the consumption grow bigger, more advertisement make consumption grow much bigger.

#2 Do you think citizens are sufficiently informed about the sustainability of our consumption habits? If not, how can we become more informed about sustainability issues?

Maybe we are not informed about the sustainability of our consumption habits because most of people have low income, so they don’t have enough money to buy the new technologies that save energy. The government has to work on some energy that for everyone can buy it.

#3 Do you think these advertising techniques influence what you and your friends purchase?

There is some product that we don’t know, when people advertise it, we thought they are cool, so we want to buy it.

He immigrated there to open a restaurant that cook Vietnamese food and some fast foods, and he started to learned from his friends and his neighbors, and some of them Vietnamese. He opened the restaurant 14 years ago, it really hard at the first time, but now he is adequately. He invited my family to come to his restaurant, but we couldn’t, because it was too far, and we were too busy. Now his job is ok, but he couldn’t come back here.
